Online reflection 2

I have now watched both videos and found both interesting, especially Andrew McAfee's presentation. First I want to point out that I believe the technology will have a major and positive impact in the future when it comes to jobs and development. We should not be afraid of the pace of technological change, but see the possibilities that technology can create instead, if this is done properly.

So, as it stands now and will be with the help of technology, droids are doing and will do many of the jobs that humans used to do, we are in a phase where Droids have taken over many of the jobs for various reasons, including to saving time, more accuracy, less errors in such production and less cost seen in the long term. This can still never be done unless the human direct impact and human control of the labor process.

What may be worrying is if instead of using the time that you save by droids doing the jobs to try to develop ourselves and spend more time doing something useful, many might be unemployed in this case and this will suddenly be a problem. Economically, many people will be poorer and in this case this will leads to different consequences. In other ways, this contributes to the fact that many are getting richer, which in turn creates unbalanced society
Another important aspect we should consider as well when we are discussing this is earth's population and how it is constantly increasing. We need in this case, more jobs; there must be more to do and not the opposite. This becomes complicated if one does not take into account various aspects while development takes place quickly, but we must also at the same time see the possibilities with this anyway and try to take advantage of it.

  1. Hi Hussein,

I agree with many of your opinions. I think you are right about the risk of a society-gap, between those with jobs, that probably will be richer and richer, and those without jobs. It´s a challenge to get an equal society if this will be a future scenario. Maybe it is time for politicians to think about this issue. I don´t know if it is right to regulate the technical development with laws, but I think they/we (?) need to think about the impact the development will have with respect to peoples lives, and definitely the ethical aspects of the development.

The growing population, as you write, is a problem and a challenge. With fewer jobs and more people this means that every working people will have to support more people in the future than today. What will that do to ecomomy, if every working person has to support five or more persons?

I am also positive about the future, but believe that the technical development has to be monitored in some way, so it is used for good purposes and to serve people, not to make people and their skills unnecessary.

  2. Hello Hussein!

Many good thoughts and I agree with several of them. I also hope that we can find a proper solution for the overpopulation and the decreasing amount of jobs.

Be careful with your sentences so that they don´t get too long. Else from that your writing skills seems to be well managed.

    Have a nice week!
